This paper is aiming at presenting two introductory sessions (workshops) for the implementation of freeware and open source software in secondary education. The first seminar addressed to Informatics teachers of secondary schools who are appointed in Ileia. Meetings were planned and organized by the Secondary Education of Ileia and the 24 participants, split in two groups, met during school hours for 18 hours in June 2007. They were informed on technical matters and freeware was introduced in order to be applied in their work. Secondary Education in Ileia is currently organizing a seminar whose topic is “Using distance learning tools to educate teachers. “A case of moodle application”. It began in December 2007 and is scheduled to end in June 2008. Its participants are teachers of all subjects and, having completed the 2/3 of the entire curriculum, the active users are 60 individuals.
